The Wintersong, 2021
Senior Showcase Exhibition Piece for Winterblood
“For three years, Cordéllia has kept herself hidden in a little glen of the Inhuman Realm, hoping with each breath that Cyril Arlen, a vampire who’d kept her as an experiment of dangerous, dark magic, would never find her so far across the sea. Yet on one fateful night upon the eve of winter, a magician and his cousin stumble into her sanctuary where she thought no one would ever find her. With the promise of a safe haven with a roof over her head, she lets them take her under their wings. It is the second night of December, and the first snow of the year falls as they carry her away from the place she thought she'd die hiding in.
She is the long-lost daughter of affluent senators and the granddaughter of the strongest vampire in power. It has been a decade since her kidnapping, and though many think her to be long-dead, Cordé is determined to find her way back home and reclaim her birthright. However, conflict beckons in the shadows as Cordéllia befriends a faerie, who shows her newfound treachery ensuing between their people, born of both hate and prejudice. Such that could spark a war. Cyril once told her that he was preparing her for the strife that was to come, but otherwise kept his secrets, kept her in darkness. Now, Cordéllia must decide if his cryptic prophesies were but a lie or a dark truth of the future.”
