The Sword & Shield, 2021
Senior Showcase Exhibition Piece for The Song of the Sea
“The Kingdom of Viphate is revered as a home of freedom for as long as history can remember. The vonHavrings have upheld their honor, brought peace in war, and have kept hold of the love of their people for their unyielding benevolence. And for centuries, Aria Rofren and Seura Cratisse have helped watch over this kingdom. They are the Ashen Wolf of the North and The White Stag of the West. Celebrated War Generals. The Executioner. The Clairvoyant Guardian Shield. Together, they are Viphate's guardians, adored by its denizens, and loved like family by each king and queen who've sat upon Castle Ryre's thrones for as long as the two have been employed.
In Viphate’s capital, a new king is crowned upon the untimely death of his father. He is young, reckless, arrogant, and his ambition for even greater power threatens to plunge their Kingdom of Light into darkness. In his pursuits, he calls upon Aria and Seura to track down a legendary artifact that is said to slumber deep within the sea. They say that such a treasure can grant kings unlimited power, given that they are brave enough to find it. Both Aria and Seura know that this was always a story that ended in bloodshed. Except, this is an order from their king. One they cannot refuse. But if other countries were to find out, they would be pursued, or worse: they could bring yet another war to their beloved kingdom.
And yet, if they could find it, the two of them alone could bring an end to an ages-long cycle of violence once and for all.”
